About Mead & Indoor Air Quality
Mead is one of the fastest-growing towns in the Longmont-Loveland corridor, sitting at the intersection of Highway 66 and I-25. The original town is small — a downtown grid of tree-lined streets with early-1900s homes — but the surrounding master-planned developments have exploded in size. Highlands, Liberty Ranch, Sundance, and the newer builds along Weld County Road 5 have added thousands of homes in just the past several years, most of them large family homes on generous lots. That new construction pattern means Mead has an unusually high concentration of homes with fresh construction dust locked inside HVAC ducts — drywall particulate, sawdust, insulation fibers, and paint debris that all settled during the build and get blown into every room the first time the system runs. Mead's location on the flat plains between the foothills and the Weld County ag belt means constant wind exposure and elevated pollen loads through spring and early summer.
